Search Yelp for local businesses in a city or ZIP code, up to 50 per call, with rating, review count, price tier, categories, contact details, hours and claim status. Always set location, because the search otherwise defaults to New York; health_score appears for restaurants only.
Yelp Search finds local businesses on Yelp by keyword, such as coffee or plumbers, in the place you give as location, and returns each one's name, link, rating and review count, price range, categories and cuisine, phone, website, full address, whether the owner has claimed the page, verification status, the year it opened and, for restaurants, a health inspection score. Local marketers, franchise developers and sales prospecting tools use it to chart competitors in an area, build prospect lists and size up a neighborhood before opening a location.
Always set location: without it the search runs in New York, and it is not a global search. is_claimed deserves attention, because an unclaimed page means the business does not manage its Yelp listing and its details may be out of date. price_range is a tier of one to four dollar signs, not an amount, and health_score is a government hygiene inspection score that appears for restaurants only.
Price $1.39 per 1,000 requests ($0.001389 per call). Failed calls and empty results are not charged. Synchronous. For slow jobs add "mode": "async" to the body, take the job_id and poll.
AI prompt
Paste this into your AI assistant. It already holds this endpoint's parameters, response fields and an example request, so the assistant can ask what you need and then write the scraper.
Please help me write a data collection script with the EveryInfra Yelp Search endpoint (yelp/search).
Endpoint contract:
- Request: POST https://api.everyinfra.com/api/v1/social with the header Authorization: Bearer <API key>. Read the key from the EVERYINFRA_API_KEY environment variable and never hard-code it.
- In the request body, set platform to yelp and action to search, and put the parameters inside params.
- Required parameters:
- keyword: Defines local business or service search terms (e.g., coffee) for the Yelp search action. To avoid defaulting to New York, pair this parameter with an explicit location.
- Optional parameters:
- location: Sets the city, neighborhood, or postal code for the business search, such as Austin, TX or 78701. It describes the business location, not the review author's location.
- limit: The most rows to return in this call, an integer from 1 to 50. The default applies when you leave it out, and a call can return fewer rows. Larger values return 422 before any charge. (default: 10)
- Returns a list of records. Main fields of each record: id, name, url, rating, rating_scale, review_count, price_range, phone, website, categories, cuisine, description; 26 fields in total, full list at https://api.everyinfra.com/api/v1/social/catalog?platform=yelp.
- Example request body:
{
"platform": "yelp",
"action": "search",
"params": {
"keyword": "coffee"
}
}
- Price: $1.39 per 1,000 requests; failed and empty results are not charged.
- For dozens or hundreds of targets, add "mode": "async" to the body: you get a job_id at once and poll GET https://api.everyinfra.com/api/v1/jobs/{job_id} for the result.
- On 422, fix the request using the suggested parameter names and allowed values in the error; on 429 or 503, wait for Retry-After and try again.
Before writing code, ask me which targets I need, how many, which fields, and what output format I want; then confirm the plan and the rough cost with me.Request parameters

}Response fields
Business data is in results. The table lists the fields a record can contain; values the platform does not show are never made up.
| Field | Meaning |
|---|---|
id | The record's unique ID on the platform. Unique only within one platform; IDs can repeat across platforms. |
name | Name of the object itself, for account, product and business capabilities. |
url | Link to the record on the platform. |
rating | Rating. The scale varies by platform: rating_scale on the same row gives the maximum (usually 5; Booking, Douban, iQIYI and NAVER use 10). Convert with rating_scale before comparing across platforms, or the comparison can come out backwards. |
rating_scale | Maximum of rating in the same row: 5 for five-star scales, 10 for ten-point scales. Present only when the row has a rating. |
review_count | Number of reviews, for product and business capabilities. null means not disclosed, not 0. |
price_range | Keeps the platform's own meaning |
phone | Contact phone number, passed through without format normalization. |
website | External website entered by the account or business. |
categories | Keeps the platform's own meaning |
cuisine | Keeps the platform's own meaning |
description | Summary or description, usually shorter than text. |
address | Full address, passed through as is. |
city | City name in the platform's language, not normalized. |
region | Keeps the platform's own meaning |
postal_code | Keeps the platform's own meaning |
country | Country or region: a full name or an ISO code depending on the platform, not normalized. |
is_claimed | Keeps the platform's own meaning |
is_verified | Whether the platform verified the account. null means it cannot be determined. |
health_score | Keeps the platform's own meaning |
established_year | Keeps the platform's own meaning |
image_url | Image link. Capabilities with several images may return an image_urls array. |
platform | Source platform identifier, the same as platform in the request (for example xiaohongshu, tiktok). |
images | Array of image links in the platform's display order; absent when there are no images. |
amenities | Keeps the platform's own meaning |
highlights | Keeps the platform's own meaning |
hours | Keeps the platform's own meaning |
FAQ
Why are all my results in New York?
Because location was left out, and the search then defaults to New York. Pass a city, a neighborhood or a postal code, such as Austin, TX or 78701, to search there. location is where the businesses are, not where reviewers live.
What does is_claimed tell me?
Whether someone from the business has claimed its Yelp page. An unclaimed page means the business does not run its listing, so hours, phone and website may be outdated; confirm them elsewhere before you use them for outreach. is_verified adds whether Yelp has verified the account; a null there means verification cannot be determined.
Where do I get the reviews for a business in the results?
Pass the business's url, its /biz/ page link, to Yelp Reviews, which reads that business's reviews, or to Yelp Details for its full record with opening hours and amenities. rating and review_count here give only the overall score and how many reviews it rests on.
Errors and billing
- 401
- Missing or invalid key. Authentication runs before parameter checks, so unauthenticated requests never see the parameter schema.
- 422
- Wrong parameter name or value. The error lists the parameters and allowed values this capability accepts and the closest match; it happens before any charge.
- 402
- Insufficient balance. Top up first.
- 429
- The account's per-minute request limit was reached (all of its API keys count together; a key's own lower limit applies first). Wait for Retry-After and try again; a rate package in the console raises the limit.
- 503
- Could not complete right now. Any charge for the call goes back to your balance automatically, and the billing receipt in the response states the actual outcome, including when it is not yet known. Do not resend blindly.
- 200 empty
- The request completed without data and is not charged (billing.reason = empty_result_refunded).
