Flickr API

Search public photos and videos, or read a creator’s uploads, with metadata for organizing visual research.

Use a Flickr NSID for a known creator’s uploads; a display name is not the same identifier.

What does each Flickr action accept?

Each answer below pairs one callable action with its real inputs. Parameter meanings and allowed values are action-specific; a familiar name does not carry the same meaning across every platform.

Official sources are linked only to clarify the platform term beside them. They do not imply platform authorization or endorsement, and they do not add official-site features to the EveryInfra API contract.

What do the Flickr search parameters mean?

Search Flickr for photos or videos matching a keyword, with title, image link, tags, photographer name and ID, capture date and upload date. taken_at comes from EXIF, can be empty and differs from upload time; a link grants no reuse rights.

Full API reference: parameters, code samples, response example and health →
keywordRequired
Specifies the search term for photos or videos in the search action. The returned media scope is controlled by media_type, and this parameter does not perform exact author display name lookups.
media_typeOptional
Filters media scope with allowed values: photos (photos only), videos (videos only), or all (all media). Defaults to photos in search and all in user_posts. This parameter controls query filtering and does not determine whether raw source files are downloaded.
Flickr: Media Type is Distinct from Content Licensing — Flickr explicitly separates media type definitions from license classifications. EveryInfra currently provides the `media_type` parameter but does not expose official license parameters. Retrieving a photo or video through search does not grant usage rights to that asset. · Checked
sortOptional
Sorts photos and videos in search (defaults to relevance) and user_posts (defaults to date-posted-desc). Supported values include relevance, interestingness-desc, interestingness-asc, date-posted-desc, date-posted-asc, date-taken-desc, and date-taken-asc. Upload dates (date-posted) and capture dates (date-taken) represent distinct attributes and cannot be used interchangeably.
Flickr: Sorting by Date Taken Versus Date Posted — Flickr documentation differentiates sorting by date-taken from date-posted. While this clarifies time semantics, the default values, supported parameters, and maximum result limits of this endpoint strictly follow the EveryInfra contract rather than mirroring all official API capabilities. · Checked

What do the Flickr user_posts parameters mean?

List a Flickr member's photos and videos by their NSID in user_id, with titles, image links, tags, capture date and upload date. Pass the NSID from a search result's author_id, not a display name; private albums are not included.

user_idRequired
Specifies the target Flickr user's NSID, such as 12345678@N04, which can be retrieved from the author_id field of search results. It does not accept display names, vanity profile aliases, or full profile URLs.
Flickr: Meaning of the User NSID — Flickr documentation defines `user_id` as the user NSID, which is distinct from a display screen name or custom profile URL path. This definition does not imply that EveryInfra can access a user's private photos. · Checked
author_idOptional
Specifies the target Flickr NSID in the format 12345678@N04. This is an internal NSID—not a username—and should be extracted from the author_id field returned in search responses.
media_typeOptional
Filters media scope with allowed values: photos (photos only), videos (videos only), or all (all media). Defaults to photos in search and all in user_posts. This parameter controls query filtering and does not determine whether raw source files are downloaded.
sortOptional
Sorts photos and videos in search (defaults to relevance) and user_posts (defaults to date-posted-desc). Supported values include relevance, interestingness-desc, interestingness-asc, date-posted-desc, date-posted-asc, date-taken-desc, and date-taken-asc. Upload dates (date-posted) and capture dates (date-taken) represent distinct attributes and cannot be used interchangeably.
usernameOptional
Acts as a compatibility alias for user_id in user_posts. It still requires a valid Flickr NSID rather than a human-readable display name, and public user_posts requests must still include the required user_id parameter.

How to use the Flickr API

  1. 01Read the public catalog and choose a platform action.
  2. 02Send the platform, action, and required parameters to POST /api/v1/social.
  3. 03Handle a synchronous result, or poll the returned job ID when the action runs asynchronously.
  4. 04Store the structured response fields needed by your application.
flickr_search.sh
curl -X POST https://api.everyinfra.com/api/v1/social \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer YOUR_API_KEY" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{"platform":"flickr","action":"search","params":{"keyword":"<keyword>"}}'

Flickr API questions

What can I retrieve with the Flickr API?

Set platform to flickr. The current catalog lists search and posts by user. These action names identify different Flickr objects or views; they are not interchangeable search modes.

Which input starts a Flickr `search` request?

Specifies the search term for photos or videos in the search action. The returned media scope is controlled by media_type, and this parameter does not perform exact author display name lookups. Send it as keyword inside params.

Which fields can Flickr `search` return?

Its declared schema includes title, image_url, media_type, and author_name. A declared field can still be absent from an individual record, and every other action has its own field list.

Does every Flickr action return immediately?

Actions labeled asynchronous return a job ID you poll. Every other action can also run asynchronously: add "mode": "async" to the request body to receive a job ID immediately, useful for slow tasks or large limits. The current catalog contains sync delivery.
