Find Upwork job posts for a skill, with budget or hourly range, experience level, proposal count and the client's spend, rating and payment verification. Filter by job_type, experience_level or posting dates; no proposals are submitted and no award is implied.
Upwork Search finds jobs that clients have posted on Upwork by keyword and returns each one's title, description, budget or hourly range, contract type, required experience level, workload, expected duration, proposal count, number of people to hire, posting time and tags, plus a profile of the client: name, location, rating, total spend, hire rate, average hourly rate paid and whether their payment method is verified. Freelancers and agencies use it to find projects worth a proposal, and analysts use it to study demand and rates for a skill.
It lists jobs, not freelancers. Filter with job_type, experience_level and a posting window in since and until, and order with sort. Fixed-price jobs carry budget, with its currency in budget_currency, while hourly jobs carry hourly_rate_min and hourly_rate_max. A high proposals count means stiff competition, and client_total_spent says more than any other field about whether a client is dependable.
Price $1.39 per 1,000 requests ($0.001389 per call). Failed calls and empty results are not charged. Synchronous. For slow jobs add "mode": "async" to the body, take the job_id and poll.
AI prompt
Paste this into your AI assistant. It already holds this endpoint's parameters, response fields and an example request, so the assistant can ask what you need and then write the scraper.
Please help me write a data collection script with the EveryInfra Upwork Search endpoint (upwork/search).
Endpoint contract:
- Request: POST https://api.everyinfra.com/api/v1/social with the header Authorization: Bearer <API key>. Read the key from the EVERYINFRA_API_KEY environment variable and never hard-code it.
- In the request body, set platform to upwork and action to search, and put the parameters inside params.
- Required parameters:
- keyword: Searches for outsourcing jobs in search and talent in freelancers. The same skill term maps to client demand and freelancer profiles across the two actions.
- Optional parameters:
- exclude_keywords: Job keywords to exclude in search, rather than a talent blacklist or minimum skill requirement.
- experience_level: Filters jobs by experience level: entry_level, intermediate_level, or expert_level. (allowed: entry_level / expert_level / intermediate_level)
- job_type: Contract billing type for search: hourly or fixed_price, rather than full-time or part-time. (allowed: fixed_price / hourly)
- since: Job posting date start point for search, rather than the employer registration date.
- sort: Job sorting order for search: newest, oldest, or relevance. oldest is not guaranteed to take effect in every case. (allowed: newest / oldest / relevance)
- until: Job posting date end point for search, used in conjunction with since, rather than the contract end date.
- limit: The most rows to return in this call, an integer from 1 to 100. The default applies when you leave it out, and a call can return fewer rows. Larger values return 422 before any charge. (default: 20)
- Returns a list of records. Main fields of each record: id, url, title, text, budget, budget_currency, hourly_rate_min, hourly_rate_max, job_type, experience_level, engagement_type, duration; 27 fields in total, full list at https://api.everyinfra.com/api/v1/social/catalog?platform=upwork.
- Example request body:
{
"platform": "upwork",
"action": "search",
"params": {
"keyword": "Python automation"
}
}
- Price: $1.39 per 1,000 requests; failed and empty results are not charged.
- For dozens or hundreds of targets, add "mode": "async" to the body: you get a job_id at once and poll GET https://api.everyinfra.com/api/v1/jobs/{job_id} for the result.
- On 422, fix the request using the suggested parameter names and allowed values in the error; on 429 or 503, wait for Retry-After and try again.
Before writing code, ask me which targets I need, how many, which fields, and what output format I want; then confirm the plan and the rough cost with me.Request parameters

Captured September 26, 2026 at 08:56 (UTC) by calling this API with the parameters in the code sample above. results and count are that call's real response with personal information (names, handles, avatars, profile links, contact details) removed; the list keeps the first 2. id, billing and quota differ on every call, so only their shape is shown.

}Response fields
Business data is in results. The table lists the fields a record can contain; values the platform does not show are never made up.
| Field | Meaning |
|---|---|
id | The record's unique ID on the platform. Unique only within one platform; IDs can repeat across platforms. |
url | Link to the record on the platform. |
title | Title. null when the platform has no titles (for example text-only posts). |
text | Body text with HTML removed, returned in full and never cut short (on a few platforms the list results themselves carry only an excerpt; the platform's field notes say so). |
budget | Keeps the platform's own meaning |
budget_currency | Keeps the platform's own meaning |
hourly_rate_min | Keeps the platform's own meaning |
hourly_rate_max | Keeps the platform's own meaning |
job_type | Keeps the platform's own meaning |
experience_level | Keeps the platform's own meaning |
engagement_type | Keeps the platform's own meaning |
duration | Keeps the platform's own meaning |
proposals | Keeps the platform's own meaning |
persons_to_hire | Keeps the platform's own meaning |
posted_at | Publish time in ISO 8601, UTC (for example 2026-08-07T12:34:56+00:00). Non-standard strings from the platform are passed through as is, so parse defensively. null means the platform does not disclose it. |
tags | Array of tags. An empty array, not null, when there are none. |
client_name | Keeps the platform's own meaning |
client_location | Keeps the platform's own meaning |
client_rating | Keeps the platform's own meaning |
client_review_count | Keeps the platform's own meaning |
client_total_spent | Keeps the platform's own meaning |
client_hire_rate | Keeps the platform's own meaning |
client_avg_hourly_rate | Keeps the platform's own meaning |
payment_verified | Keeps the platform's own meaning |
email | Contact email address, passed through as is. |
emails | Contact email addresses (a record can have several), passed through as is with duplicates removed. |
phone | Contact phone number, passed through without format normalization. |
platform | Source platform identifier, the same as platform in the request (for example xiaohongshu, tiktok). |
FAQ
Can I search for freelancers instead of jobs?
Not with this capability: keyword matches jobs that clients have posted. To find people who take on work, use the Upwork Freelancers capability, which takes a skill keyword and can narrow results by continent and by Top Rated status.
How do I leave out jobs that mention a certain word?
Pass exclude_keywords as an object, not a plain string, for example {"keywords": ["WordPress"], "matchTitle": true, "matchDescription": true, "matchSkills": true}. The list holds the words to exclude, and the three switches say whether to look for them in the job title, the description and the skills list.
How do I judge whether a client is worth bidding for?
Start with client_total_spent, the client's total spend on Upwork and the firmest single sign of a trustworthy client. Then check payment_verified, since unverified payment methods carry a higher risk of not being paid, and client_hire_rate, where a low share means the client often posts without hiring. Read client_rating with client_review_count.
Errors and billing
- 401
- Missing or invalid key. Authentication runs before parameter checks, so unauthenticated requests never see the parameter schema.
- 422
- Wrong parameter name or value. The error lists the parameters and allowed values this capability accepts and the closest match; it happens before any charge.
- 402
- Insufficient balance. Top up first.
- 429
- The account's per-minute request limit was reached (all of its API keys count together; a key's own lower limit applies first). Wait for Retry-After and try again; a rate package in the console raises the limit.
- 503
- Could not complete right now. Any charge for the call goes back to your balance automatically, and the billing receipt in the response states the actual outcome, including when it is not yet known. Do not resend blindly.
- 200 empty
- The request completed without data and is not charged (billing.reason = empty_result_refunded).

- Upwork: Hourly versus fixed-price contracts ↗
Upwork distinguishes hourly billing contracts from fixed-price contracts based on overall project scope or milestones. The job_type parameter in this action categorizes jobs; it does not provide official platform features such as time logging, escrow payments, or milestone management.
