Search Tumblr posts by keyword for text, post type, tags, note count and the blog that posted each one. Pick one post_type at a time; private blogs are excluded, and not every match is guaranteed.
Tumblr Search finds public Tumblr posts by keyword and returns each post's text, link, post type, tags, note count and publish time, with the blog's username, name and link. Fan community researchers, brand teams and content strategists use it to see how a topic, fandom, product or visual style is discussed on Tumblr, to collect posts for content or sentiment research, or to find the blogs that post most about a subject.
keyword is a search term, not a tag. Narrow results to one kind of post with post_type, choosing any, text, photo, video, quote, link or audio, one value per request. Blogs mix these types and Tumblr lays each out differently, so the type is worth keeping on every row you store. tags comes back as an empty list rather than null when a post has none, and posted_at is in UTC.
Price $1.39 per 1,000 requests ($0.001389 per call). Failed calls and empty results are not charged. Synchronous. For slow jobs add "mode": "async" to the body, take the job_id and poll.
AI prompt
Paste this into your AI assistant. It already holds this endpoint's parameters, response fields and an example request, so the assistant can ask what you need and then write the scraper.
Please help me write a data collection script with the EveryInfra Tumblr Search endpoint (tumblr/search).
Endpoint contract:
- Request: POST https://api.everyinfra.com/api/v1/social with the header Authorization: Bearer <API key>. Read the key from the EVERYINFRA_API_KEY environment variable and never hard-code it.
- In the request body, set platform to tumblr and action to search, and put the parameters inside params.
- Required parameters:
- keyword: Public post search term for search. The compatibility keyword input for tag actually queries by tag and cannot be treated as an identical search entry point.
- Optional parameters:
- post_type: Single post type for search, tag, or user_posts: any for unrestricted, text, photo, video, quote, link, or audio. This is not an array, and profile does not use this filter.
- limit: The most rows to return in this call, an integer from 1 to 200. The default applies when you leave it out, and a call can return fewer rows. Larger values return 422 before any charge. (default: 20)
- Returns a list of records. Main fields of each record: id, url, text, post_type, author_username, author_name, author_url, note_count, posted_at, tags.
- Example request body:
{
"platform": "tumblr",
"action": "search",
"params": {
"keyword": "film photography"
}
}
- Price: $1.39 per 1,000 requests; failed and empty results are not charged.
- For dozens or hundreds of targets, add "mode": "async" to the body: you get a job_id at once and poll GET https://api.everyinfra.com/api/v1/jobs/{job_id} for the result.
- On 422, fix the request using the suggested parameter names and allowed values in the error; on 429 or 503, wait for Retry-After and try again.
Before writing code, ask me which targets I need, how many, which fields, and what output format I want; then confirm the plan and the rough cost with me.Request parameters

action | body | string | Yes | search | Capability identifier, fixed value. |
keyword | body.params | Not declared | Yes | - | Public post search term for search. The compatibility keyword input for tag actually queries by tag and cannot be treated as an identical search entry point. |
post_type | body.params | Not declared | No | - | Single post type for search, tag, or user_posts: any for unrestricted, text, photo, video, quote, link, or audio. This is not an array, and profile does not use this filter. |
limit | body.params | integer (1–200) | No | 20 | The most rows to return in this call, an integer from 1 to 200. The default applies when you leave it out, and a call can return fewer rows. Larger values return 422 before any charge. |

Response example
Captured September 26, 2026 at 08:56 (UTC) by calling this API with the parameters in the code sample above. results and count are that call's real response with personal information (names, handles, avatars, profile links, contact details) removed; the list keeps the first 2. id, billing and quota differ on every call, so only their shape is shown.

}Response fields
Business data is in results. The table lists the fields a record can contain; values the platform does not show are never made up.
| Field | Meaning |
|---|---|
id | The record's unique ID on the platform. Unique only within one platform; IDs can repeat across platforms. |
url | Link to the record on the platform. |
text | Body text with HTML removed, returned in full and never cut short (on a few platforms the list results themselves carry only an excerpt; the platform's field notes say so). |
post_type | Keeps the platform's own meaning |
author_username | Author's username (@handle), usually usable in URLs. |
author_name | Author's display name. |
author_url | Link to the author's profile on the platform. |
note_count | Keeps the platform's own meaning |
posted_at | Publish time in ISO 8601, UTC (for example 2026-08-07T12:34:56+00:00). Non-standard strings from the platform are passed through as is, so parse defensively. null means the platform does not disclose it. |
platform | Source platform identifier, the same as platform in the request (for example xiaohongshu, tiktok). |
tags | Array of tags. An empty array, not null, when there are none. |
FAQ
Is keyword the same as searching a tag?
No. keyword is a search term matched against public posts, while a tag search reads the posts filed under one tag. For that, call the Tumblr Tag capability with the tag name, with or without the #.
How do I read note_count?
It is Tumblr's single interaction total: likes and reblogs are merged into notes and cannot be separated. A high count means a post drew many likes, many reblogs or both, so compare it only with other note counts, not with like or share figures from other platforms.
How do I read more from a blog I found?
Pass the row's author_username, the blog's name, to the Tumblr Posts by user capability, which lists that blog's public posts and accepts the same post_type filter. author_url opens the blog itself in a browser.
Errors and billing
- 401
- Missing or invalid key. Authentication runs before parameter checks, so unauthenticated requests never see the parameter schema.
- 422
- Wrong parameter name or value. The error lists the parameters and allowed values this capability accepts and the closest match; it happens before any charge.
- 402
- Insufficient balance. Top up first.
- 429
- The account's per-minute request limit was reached (all of its API keys count together; a key's own lower limit applies first). Wait for Retry-After and try again; a rate package in the console raises the limit.
- 503
- Could not complete right now. Any charge for the call goes back to your balance automatically, and the billing receipt in the response states the actual outcome, including when it is not yet known. Do not resend blindly.
- 200 empty
- The request completed without data and is not charged (billing.reason = empty_result_refunded).

- Tumblr: Differences Between Keyword Search and Tag Pages ↗
Official documentation separates search pages from tag pages: search pages discover content by words, whereas tag pages aggregate posts containing a specific tag. Blog recommendations, sorting options, and search operators on Tumblr web pages are not automatically supported or verified parameters for this endpoint.

- Tumblr: Notes Across Post Types Are Not Separate Like Counts ↗
Official Tumblr documentation defines notes as the combined likes, reblogs, and comments received by a post. Changing the post type does not automatically split note_count into three separate metrics in this endpoint, nor can the total interaction count be interpreted as unique user counts.
