Search Flickr for photos or videos matching a keyword, with title, image link, tags, photographer name and ID, capture date and upload date. taken_at comes from EXIF, can be empty and differs from upload time; a link grants no reuse rights.

Flickr Search finds public photos, and videos when you ask for them, by keyword and returns each item's title, image and page links, media type, tags, the photographer's name and ID, when the photo was taken and when it was uploaded. Designers, editors and researchers use it to find images of a subject, study how a place or event has been photographed, or gather candidates for a visual dataset.

keyword is not an exact lookup of a photographer's name. sort defaults to relevance and also orders by interestingness, upload date or capture date, in either direction. taken_at comes from the photo's EXIF data and can differ from posted_at, the upload time; it can also be null. A photo without tags returns tags as an empty array.

Price $1.39 per 1,000 requests ($0.001389 per call). Failed calls and empty results are not charged. Synchronous. For slow jobs add "mode": "async" to the body, take the job_id and poll.

AI prompt

Paste this into your AI assistant. It already holds this endpoint's parameters, response fields and an example request, so the assistant can ask what you need and then write the scraper.

Please help me write a data collection script with the EveryInfra Flickr Search endpoint (flickr/search).

Endpoint contract:
- Request: POST https://api.everyinfra.com/api/v1/social with the header Authorization: Bearer <API key>. Read the key from the EVERYINFRA_API_KEY environment variable and never hard-code it.
- In the request body, set platform to flickr and action to search, and put the parameters inside params.
- Required parameters:
  - keyword: Specifies the search term for photos or videos in the search action. The returned media scope is controlled by media_type, and this parameter does not perform exact author display name lookups.
- Optional parameters:
  - media_type: Filters media scope with allowed values: photos (photos only), videos (videos only), or all (all media). Defaults to photos in search and all in user_posts.
  - sort: Sorts photos and videos in search (defaults to relevance) and user_posts (defaults to date-posted-desc).
  - limit: The most rows to return in this call, an integer from 1 to 50. The default applies when you leave it out, and a call can return fewer rows. Larger values return 422 before any charge. (default: 10)
- Returns a list of records. Main fields of each record: id, url, title, image_url, media_type, author_name, author_id, tags, taken_at, posted_at.
- Example request body:
{
  "platform": "flickr",
  "action": "search",
  "params": {
    "keyword": "street photography"
  }
}
- Price: $1.39 per 1,000 requests; failed and empty results are not charged.
- For dozens or hundreds of targets, add "mode": "async" to the body: you get a job_id at once and poll GET https://api.everyinfra.com/api/v1/jobs/{job_id} for the result.
- On 422, fix the request using the suggested parameter names and allowed values in the error; on 429 or 503, wait for Retry-After and try again.

Before writing code, ask me which targets I need, how many, which fields, and what output format I want; then confirm the plan and the rough cost with me.

Request parameters

NameInTypeRequiredDefaultDescription
AuthorizationheaderstringYes-Bearer followed by your API key. Create it in the console; never put it in a URL or a code repository.
platformbodystringYesflickrPlatform identifier, fixed value.
actionbodystringYessearchCapability identifier, fixed value.
keywordbody.paramsNot declaredYes-Specifies the search term for photos or videos in the search action. The returned media scope is controlled by media_type, and this parameter does not perform exact author display name lookups.
media_typebody.paramsNot declaredNo-Filters media scope with allowed values: photos (photos only), videos (videos only), or all (all media). Defaults to photos in search and all in user_posts. This parameter controls query filtering and does not determine whether raw source files are downloaded.
sortbody.paramsNot declaredNo-Sorts photos and videos in search (defaults to relevance) and user_posts (defaults to date-posted-desc). Supported values include relevance, interestingness-desc, interestingness-asc, date-posted-desc, date-posted-asc, date-taken-desc, and date-taken-asc. Upload dates (date-posted) and capture dates (date-taken) represent distinct attributes and cannot be used interchangeably.

Real response

Captured September 26, 2026 at 08:56 (UTC) by calling this API with the parameters in the code sample above. results and count are that call's real response with personal information (names, handles, avatars, profile links, contact details) removed; the list keeps the first 2. id, billing and quota differ on every call, so only their shape is shown.

Response fields

Business data is in results. The table lists the fields a record can contain; values the platform does not show are never made up.

FieldMeaning
idThe record's unique ID on the platform. Unique only within one platform; IDs can repeat across platforms.
urlLink to the record on the platform.
titleTitle. null when the platform has no titles (for example text-only posts).
image_urlImage link. Capabilities with several images may return an image_urls array.
media_typeKeeps the platform's own meaning
author_nameAuthor's display name.
author_idAuthor's unique ID on the platform.
tagsArray of tags. An empty array, not null, when there are none.
taken_atKeeps the platform's own meaning
posted_atPublish time in ISO 8601, UTC (for example 2026-08-07T12:34:56+00:00). Non-standard strings from the platform are passed through as is, so parse defensively. null means the platform does not disclose it.
platformSource platform identifier, the same as platform in the request (for example xiaohongshu, tiktok).

FAQ

What is the difference between taken_at and posted_at?

taken_at is when the photo was shot, read from its EXIF data, and it can be null. posted_at is when it was uploaded to Flickr. To order by capture time use date-taken-desc or date-taken-asc in sort, and by upload time date-posted-desc or date-posted-asc; the two kinds of date do not mix.

How do I see more work from a photographer I found?

Take author_id from the result, an NSID shaped like 12345678@N04, and pass it as the user ID to the Flickr Posts by user capability. That capability needs the NSID; display names and profile short names do not work there.

How do I search videos as well as photos?

Set media_type to videos for videos only, or to all for both; search looks at photos unless you say otherwise. media_type on each row tells you which kind it is. The setting chooses what to search, not whether original files are downloaded.

Errors and billing

401
Missing or invalid key. Authentication runs before parameter checks, so unauthenticated requests never see the parameter schema.
422
Wrong parameter name or value. The error lists the parameters and allowed values this capability accepts and the closest match; it happens before any charge.
402
Insufficient balance. Top up first.
429
The account's per-minute request limit was reached (all of its API keys count together; a key's own lower limit applies first). Wait for Retry-After and try again; a rate package in the console raises the limit.
503
Could not complete right now. Any charge for the call goes back to your balance automatically, and the billing receipt in the response states the actual outcome, including when it is not yet known. Do not resend blindly.
200 empty
The request completed without data and is not charged (billing.reason = empty_result_refunded).

  • Flickr: Sorting by Date Taken Versus Date Posted ↗

    Flickr documentation differentiates sorting by date-taken from date-posted. While this clarifies time semantics, the default values, supported parameters, and maximum result limits of this endpoint strictly follow the EveryInfra contract rather than mirroring all official API capabilities.

  • Flickr: Media Type is Distinct from Content Licensing ↗

    Flickr explicitly separates media type definitions from license classifications. EveryInfra currently provides the `media_type` parameter but does not expose official license parameters. Retrieving a photo or video through search does not grant usage rights to that asset.
